NATURAL HOME REMEDIES:

  1. Be a vegetarian:

Some people don’t love vegetable. Start loving vegetable. Vegetables contain fibers. Fibers are very important for constipated patient. Fiber makes the stool soft. We should take at least 25-40gram fibers in a day. So eat vegetables like Avocado, broccoli, green peas, lentils, green leafy vegetables, beans etc.

  1. Take plenty of water:

Water is very important for maintaining psychological function. Usually our body needs at least 2 liters of water in a day. But if you are facing constipation then you should take more than 2 liters of water. This water will make the stool soft. Also water washes away the toxic products of the body. Kidney functioning hampers if proper amount of water is not taken.

  1. Drink lemon juice detox:

Drinking lemon juice in the morning in empty stomach can be very useful against constipation. Simply make a mixture by adding warm water and lemon juice. Now add ¼ teaspoon of table salt or a pinch of rock salt in it. I prefer to use honey as well and the quantity depends on your taste. Now drink this juice at the morning until you get positive result. But I have seen affirmative results within 2 days of drinking the lemon juice solution.

  1. Swallow Castor oil:

Castor oil contains highly laxative effect. Mix 2 teaspoon of castor oil with a glass of fruit juice. Now drink the juice. You can also swallow the castor oil without mixing it with fruit juice. Fruit juice can be anything but I prefer to choose pomegranate, mango or grapes juice.

  1. Eat ripe Banana:

Banana is very useful in constipation. Banana has the property to make the stool soft. Banana also contains some other minerals too. Eat 1 ripe banana a day. But don’t take unripe banana because it can cause constipation.

  1. Eat papaya:

Papaya is highly recommended if you are a constipated patient. My elder brother has severe constipation problem. Right now, he is properly eating ripe papaya which lessens down his problem to a greater extent. Eat papaya juice, ripe papaya, papaya as a vegetable. It will also increase the bowel movement. I am also a constipated person and papaya is in my daily routine.

  1. Take Psyllium husk:

Psyllium husk is commonly known as isabgol in many Asian countries. To me, this is one of the best and awesome remedy if you are facing hard times in passing stools. Before going to bed at night, take one glass of lukewarm water and add with the 1 spoonful of psyllium husk. Keep it for 30minutes before drinking it. Drink it before going to sleep and in the morning you feel relieved after passing your stool because psyllium husk breaks down the hard molecules.

  1. Drink carrot juice:

Carrot juice is very useful for constipation. It contains high fiber. Drink carrot juice twice a day to get better and fast result.

  1. Change your lifestyle:

Try to do your work timely like taking foods at due time. Sleep at proper time. Start doing exercise for at least 20 minutes in a day. Increase your physical activity and say good bye to the stress and tension.

  1. Avoid foods that cause constipation:

Some foods can act as a trigger behind constipation. You should avoid those foods. Try to avoid over eating of Cheese, cookies, chips, refined sugar, hard boil egg, liver, red meat etc. If you are an alcoholic person then you should avoid this bad habit. Alcohol can cause constipation. Alcohol also can damage your liver.

OVER THE COUNTER MEDICINE:

Sometimes it’s difficult to get quick relief from constipation. In this kind of situation, you can use some over the counter drug for reducing constipation.

  1. Use Glycerin suppository:

Glycerin suppository is available for quick relief from constipation. Glycerin has the ability to draw water into intestine and make the stool soft. It also increases the bowel movement. This drug is induced through rectal route so it can be embarrassing for some people. But don’t use glycerin in regular basis.

  1. Take a saline laxative:

Saline laxative can be very useful in constipation. It can increase gut motility. So it causes easy passage of stool. There are many saline containing laxatives available in the pharmacy such as lactulose, miralax, fleet phospo soda etc. Before using these kinds of laxative, make sure that you are not on sodium restricted diet or not having kidney disease or high blood pressure.

  1. Use milk of magnesia:

Milk of magnesia is a very popular over the counter drug for constipation. It cans relief you from constipation by increasing gut motility and making the stool soft.

  1. Visit a doctor’s chamber:

After following all these remedies, still your constipation persist for a long time then you should visit a doctor’s chamber immediately. Then doctor will ask to do some investigation like colonoscopy. Because sometimes constipation may occurs due to some intestinal disease. But most of the people are self responsible for their constipation.
